General Parking Questions

1.Is there a fee for parking?

Yes, fees vary by location.

2. What type of parking is available?

Permit and Meter Parking are typically available for 16 or 24 hours.

3. Is parking free at anytime?

Yes. Parking is free on weekends and on the following designated Metro-North Railroad Holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Day after, and Christmas Day.

4. When do "free weekends" start/end?

Free Weekends are from 12:01AM - Saturday Morning to 11:59PM - Sunday Night.

5. How do you pay for parking?

There are two ways to pay for parking:
Meters - Electronic & Slot Box (Look for the blue & white signs directing you to the parking pay station)

6. When and where do you pay for parking?

Meters are paid after you park your car and have noted your space number. There are signs in the lots that will direct you to the parking pay station.

7. How long can you park at a meter space?

Cars can be parked at a meter between 1 and 31 days.

9. How do the lot attendants know I've paid for my parking space?

Electronic Meters: The attendant obtains an enforcement report from the machine.
Slot Boxes: The attendant checks the back panel for paid spaces.

10. Do you have to put the meter receipt in your car or give it to someone to leave the lot?

No, it is for your own personal record

11. How do "no metered parking before 9A.M." spaces work?

These spaces are intended for off-peak customers and are available starting at 9:00 am.

12. Can spaces marked "no metered parking before 9A.M." be used for long term parking?

Yes, as long as you arrive on the first day after 9am.

13. When parking long term, are weekends included in the number of days entered into the meter?

Yes, The Electronic Meter deducts any "free days" from your charge. When using a Slot Box, you should deduct weekends and/or holidays from the total. For Meter Instructions Click Here.

14. What happens when there are no metered spaces available at  a station?

You can call 888-682-PARK and speak to a customer service representative who will help you find a nearby location with available space.

15. What is the penalty for not paying the meter?

You will receive a parking ticket.

16. What happens if the meter expires before my car is moved?

You will receive a parking ticket.

17. What is the process for payment of a meter refund slip?

Permit Parking Questions

1. How can I purchase a permit?

To purchase a permit, you must first fill-out a permit application.

Applications can be obtained three ways:
 
Fax by phone  - 888-682-PARK
 
In Person - At the Poughkeepsie Customer Service Center located at the Poughkeepsie Station Garage
 
On-Line - From the Metro-North Railroad Web Site Allright Parking Link on the Station Page

2. When do permits start?

On the first  day of the month.

3. Why do permit applications require all information to match?

To ensure customer information and our records are correct.

4. Why do permit applications require a copy of vehicle registration(s)?

Vehicle registrations are required to verify that the vehicle information matches with the information on the application.

5. What is the procedure for changing the license plate on a permit?

You are required to hand in  your old permit, along with a copy of the registration for the new plate. A temporary permit will be sent to you and it should be placed in your windshield until your new permit arrives.

6. Are taxes included in the parking fees?

Yes, state and local taxes are included in the parking fees.

7. Is there a senior discount for parking?

There is no senior discount.


Parking Ticket Questions

1. How much is a parking ticket?

The amount of the parking ticket varies, based on the parking violation. Parking tickets escalate for late payment and additional repeat infractions.

2. Who issues the parking tickets?

Meter Enforcement Staff employed by Allright Parking issue the parking tickets.

3. Why does the ticket office phone number go to voicemail?

The initial information is recorded so our staff can look up, pull the history of the parking ticket and respond to your inquiry with the appropriate information.

4. The parking ticket say "7 days or over" before the amount rises. Are those seven business days?

Yes.  The fine escalates if it is not paid before seven business days elapse.

5. How are parking tickets disputed?

An administrative adjudication process is used. You must call the phone number on the back of the parking ticket if you wish to dispute it.

6. How do I pay for a parking ticket issued to my vehicle?

Parking tickets can be paid three ways:

MAIL - Payment and parking ticket (check or money order... no cash) to:

CREDIT CARD - Dial (845) 897-2608 and follow the prompts for parking ticket payment 

PARKING PAY STATION - At certain parking facilities you may pay your parking tickets at a yellow box located near the Parking Pay Stations.

7. Why can't parking tickets be paid or disputed at the Poughkeepsie Parking Customer Service Center?

For security reasons, parking tickets are handled off site at the Allright Management Office
